New Mercedes Engine For Nissan Kicks To Even Make It To Future Nissan-Renault SUVs in India

Along with BS6 Nissan Kicks, the new powerful 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine will also be offered with all the upcoming Nissan-Renault SUVs. The new powertrain was also showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

By the end of this month, Nissan India start offering the BS6 Kicks in the Indian market with a potent 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. The same power plant will be offered with the upcoming Nissan-Renault SUVs. The 1.3-litre turbo petrol mill is jointly developed by Daimler and Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi Alliance. The engine was first introduced back in 2017. This motor is used by carmakers including Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Dacia and Renault and is known by different names.

Upcoming Nissan-Renault SUVs To Be Powered By Mercedes Engine

The new turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power of 156 PS

Renault and Dacia named have named it as TCe, Mercedes-Benz calls it M 282 and Nissan calls it HR13. Renault Duster equipped with this turbo-petrol motor was also showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. This engine will be commercially introduced in our market with the upcoming Nissan Kicks, and the reports suggest the same engine option will be offered with the new Renault Duster. The engine will come paired with a 6-speed MT and a CVT. The same petrol motor is also expected to do duties in the Renault Captur.

In India, the Nissan Kicks has just been launched, with the prices of the SUV astarting from Rs 9.50 Lakh. As we’ve told you before that the updated SUV derives power from the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which puts out 156 PS of peak power and 254 Nm of twisting force. Transmission duties are taken care of by 6-speed and CVT options. The updated Kicks locks horns with the hot-selling Kia Seltos, new Hyundai Creta and MG Hector.

In other news, Renault India will soon launch an all-new subcompact SUV codenamed as HBC. The SUV will sit on the company’s CMF-A+ platform. The same platform also underpins the ongoing Renault Triber. Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. The all-new SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre gasoline engine that produces 95bhp of peak power. The SUV will come paired with a 5-speed MT or an AMT.
