Nissan Terrano has been discontinued and the main reason for it seems to be the SUV's poor sales performance.

Even as the Renault Duster is slated to receive a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engien co-developed with Mercedes, its mechanical twin, the Nissan Terrano, has been pulled off the shelves. Also, we don’t expect to see its replacement to be introduced in the near future. Nissan Terrano is essentially a rebadged Duster with a few cosmetic changes to differentiate betweeen the two SUVs.

Poor sales record of the Nissan Terrano seems to be the biggest reason behind Nissan’s decision to discontinue the car. The carmaker had high hopes from the SUV when they launched it back in 2013. Nissan Terrano was based on Renault Duster as the SUV was quite popular in its segment.

The Nissan Terrano was not updated to comply with BSVI emission norms. It used to be on sale with two different powertrain options- a 1.5-litre petrol mill and a 1.5-litre oil-burner. The petrol motor used to put out 104 PS of maximum power and 148 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the diesel engine was offered in two states of tune, producing 85PS/200 Nm and 110 PS/245 Nm. The petrol mill was offered with a 5-speed MT and a CVT. The 1.5-litre 85PS diesel engine was retailed with a 5-speed MT and the 110 PS diesel motor was coupled with a 6-speed MT and AMT options.
