Jaguar India has finally commenced bookings for its I-Pace electric car after what feels like ages. It will be launched in India with three trim levels: S, SE, and HSE respectively. While the booking amount hasn’t been disclosed, it is likely to be upwards of Rs 5 lakhs as it is expected to cost nearly a crore upon its launch. Customers can contact the dealer principal, who will guide them through the booking process as well as the amount. The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first all-electric car and it has been in Jaguar India’s release slate for a while now. But first, it had to get the basics sorted out first which included asking Tata Power to help with the charging infrastructure as India still has very few dedicated car-charge points. The vehicle will come with an 8 year or 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty on the battery, whichever is earlier. Along with that, customers will get a complimentary five-year service package as well as roadside assistance. Additionally, a 7.4 kW AC wall box will also be provided.

EZ charge, installed by Tata Power, has over 200 charging locations already can be accessed by I-Pace owners. The car comes fitted with a 90 kWh li-ion battery which powers two electric motors, giving it peak power and torque figures of 400 Ps and 690 Nm, respectively. Each motor powers one axle, making it four-wheel drive. This means the I-Pace sprints to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and has a range of over 480 kms on a single charge. (either-or, you won’t get that figures simultaneously). The battery should take around 12 hours for a full charge, which will drop to under 3 hours if you’re using the optional fast charger.

The I-Pace will be coming in loaded to the gills with goodies with the optional air suspension added as well. Additionally, you can configure the car to your individual tastes online as well. Its main rival in the Indian market will be the , Mercedes-Benz EQC which is a slightly bigger car but is the only one currently in the market. Deliveries for the I-Pace should start from March 2021.
