Maruti Vitara Brezza in its facelifted avatar is available with a petrol-only power plant. However, that hasn't stopped it from topping the sales chart in June.

Maruti has recently updated its compact SUV offering – Vitara Brezza with a new petrol heart and some cosmetic changes as a part of its mid-cycle update. With the new petrol motor in place of the older-frugal oil burner, everyone was quite sceptical if the Vitara Brezza would be able to hold its position on the sales charts. But, now after almost 4 months from its launch, Vitara Brezza is back on the track. In June, it outsold every other compact SUV with a total sales figure of 4,542 units. Also, it was one of the 10 best-selling cars for June this year. Except for Vitara Brezza from this segment, it was the Hyundai Venue that made its way to this list with a sales figure of 4,129 units.

The facelifted Vitara Brezza is the only car in its segment to be offered with a petrol-only power plant. It gets a 1.5L K15B 4-cylinder petrol motor that is capable of putting out 104 PS of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The old Fiat-sourced 1.3L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel, on the other hand, belted out a rated power output of 90 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. While the new engine can be had mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT, the oil burner was available with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.
