Kia Seltos' petrol variants are more popular among the buyers than their diesel counterparts. The automaker has plans to introduce a new updated model of the car next month.

Kia Seltos was the first product from the Korean carmaker to be launched in the Indian market. It is one of the most important products for the automaker, as it helped them to gain a good foothold in the compact SUV segment. In its segment, it rivals against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. Last month, the automaker managed to sell 8,305 units of the SUV in India. On the other hand, Hyundai sold 12,428 units of the Creta.

Out of the total 8,305 units of Seltos retailed by the carmaker last month, 5,155 units were petrol variants. That’s about 62 per cent of the total monthly sales. This simply shows that the petrol trims of Seltos are much more popular than the diesel ones. Interestingly, the situation is reversed in the case of Hyundai Creta. Out of 12,428 units of Creta sold last month, 7,758 units were diesel trims of the SUV.

Also, two upcoming SUVs are also going to make the competition in compact SUV space quite fierce namely- Skoda Kushaq and VW Tiguan. Next month, the automaker has also planned to introduce a new updated version of the Seltos. The Kia SUV comes loaded with all the bells and whistles, but it missises out on features like a large panoramic sunroof. This feature is offered with its direct rival Hyundai Creta. One can expect the higher-trims of the Seltos to be introduced with a panoramic sunroof soon.

The automaker will also introduce its brand-new logo on the Seltos, and it will become the first Kia product in India to feature the company’s new badge. Under the hood, things will remain the same. It will continue to derive power from a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged gasoline unit. The ongoing model is offered at a starting price of Rs 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base trim and goes all the way up to Rs 17.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec model. The new model of Seltos will be slightly expensive than the outgoing version.
