Prices of Nissan Magnite, Kicks and Datsun redi-GO to Increase by 5%

The year 2020 is about to end and many carmakers have already announced to increase the price of their cars. Earlier, India's biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki announced to increase the price of its vehicles from January 2021. Afterwards, Renault, Hyundai, Kia and Mahindra announced to increase prices of their cars from January 2021. Now, Nissan has also announced to hike up the prices of its entire model lineup by 5 per cent. The new price revision will come into effect from next month. The automaker will increase the prices of both Datsun and Nissan cars, and it would vary depending upon the trim and model.

Nissan and Renault are the only two car manufacturers who have revealed the exact percentage of the price hike. Other automakers have yet to announce the exact percentage of the price hike. The carmaker said that the main reason behind the increase in the price of Nissan cars is due to the increased input cost such as steel, aluminium, plastics and other affiliated cost increases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nissan aims to offer the best value proposition to its customers in India. In the current challenging market conditions, we are constrained to increase the price of all Nissan and Datsun models due to increased costs. The proposed price increase will be effective from January 2021."

The new price hike will also be applicable to the company’s all-new sub-4-meter SUV, Nissan Magnite. The all-new Nissan SUV is the cheapest car in its segment. It rivals with the likes of Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon. It derives power from a 1.0-litre NA and turbocharged petrol engine. The engine comes coupled to a 5-speed MT or a CVT gearbox. It gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
