The third-generation Hyundai i20 has witnessed significant changes on the outside, inside and under the bonnet. The new hatchback looks more evolved and premium than the outgoing predecessor, thanks to Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy. It carries a large blackened cascading grille that features the pattern mesh finish, LED headlamps with DRLs, triangular-shaped fog lamps housing, dual-tone alloy wheels, angular Z-shaped LED elements on the tail lamps among others.

That said, the new-gen i20 will receive a 48V mild-hybrid system paired with the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder T-GDI turbo petrol engine that helps improve the car’s overall fuel efficiency and lessen the emissions level by 3 to 4 per cent. The mill is capable of outputting two different states of tune – 100 PS and 120 PS. A mild torque assist is also provided on the new Hyundai 20 for better drivability.

Back to India, the new-gen Hyundai i20 for our country is said to be different from the international spec model.  It will be available with three engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit – that are identical to those offered on the Hyundai Venue. The India launch of the 2020 Hyundai i20 is set for October of this year.
