Developed from the concept Renault K-ZE, Renault Kwid EV will be launched soon. The exterior of the car has been revealed recently.

Renault Kwid EV was first introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October last year. In the production form, the model will go under the name Renault Kwid EV, indicating that it will be the EV sibling of Renault’s hot-selling Kwid.

Compared with the internal fuel combustion counterpart, the electric version is slightly different. Firstly, radiator grille and air intakes are removed as the electric motor requires no heat ventilator. Without these details, the EV looks cleaner and more simplistic.

Besides the front bumper also takes on some small changes, which includes the redesigned bumper and addition of LED headlights. The air intakes are still kept on the front and the rear end. However, it is probably a faux unit. It is noteworthy that the Kwid EV now comes with new alloy wheel units and full-disc brakes.

It is now still unclear about what exact electric motor that will power the new Kwid EV. On the concept, the electric motor has the driving range of 250km. As far as we know, Renault is teaming up with Dongfeng, a Chinese motor company, to develop the powertrain for the electrified Kwid. The two firms have established a joint venture company, which is called eGT New Energy Automotive. And the manufacturing of the zero-emission Kwid will be started at Dongfeng’s plan in Shiyan. The Renault Kwid EV has been spied in China. The Renault Kwid will go into production soon.

The Renault Kwid EV is on Renault’s plan for the Indian market in the next three years. This car, in particular, is likely to be launched in the next one or two years. And it will sit on the affordable price range, about Rs 6 lakh upwards.
