The upcoming Maruti Brezza-based compact SUV by Toyota is expected to be named as 'Urban Cruiser'. The new SUV will hit the Indian market in the second half of 2020.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors plans to launch a new Maruti Suzuki-based SUV in the Indian market in the coming months. Both companies have joined hands and have plans to launch new vehicles. Toyota has already launched the Glanza hatchback based on the Maruti Baleno. Now the carmaker has plans to launch a new compact SUV based on the Brezza, which is likely to be named as ‘Urban Cruiser’. The inspiration for this name seems to have come from 'Land Cruiser', which is a highly successful and renowned brand of SUV from the Japanese auto giant.

If the Baleno-to-Glanza conversion is anything to go by, the Toyota-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza will retain much of its current aesthetic package. The upright stance, the flat surfaces and the clean body lines of the Brezza will be retained, while even most of the sort parts, with the exception of the front grille, would be carried over.

Even the interior will remain almost the same and the highlight of the dashboard will be the company's SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with cloud-based features. Of course, the steering wheel will feature a Toyota badge. What's more, as the Brezza is underpinned by the Global C platform, the upcoming Toyota SUV will be high on the safety front.
