Only 125 units of the Captur were sold last month, thereby marking the year-on-year drop of 34 per cent

Renault launched the Captur back in 2017. Even though the compact SUV space is currently experiencing a surge in popularity, the Captur doesn’t receive an equivalently warming response. In fact, the sale of this SUV by Renault has hit its lowest. Only 125 units were sold in April 2019 despite the huge discounts on offer. The same month last year, the sales were 34 per cent higher. Compared with March’s sales volume, this month’s number has lowered by 64 per cent.

The drop in sales is a backstab at all Renault’s effort to save the sale performance. Last month, the Captur was offered with a considerable discount offer, not to mention the recent price revising which cut the price down from 9.99 lakh to only 9.5 lakh. Moreover, the Captur received updates just last month. Unfortunately, all of these attempts could not prevent the sales volume from declining.

Despite the price benefit and updates, Renault Captur fails to secure their sales performance

The recent updates include a new 7-inch MediaNAV Evolution infotainment system supported by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay application. The new system also gets Bluetooth connectivity. Besides, the updated XUV500 also gets the Eco Guide function which is responsible for proving guides to minimize the fuel consumption. Other features include reverse camera, power adjustable mirrors, LED headlamps, rain sensing wiper, cruise control and more.

The safety feature kit also gets its necessary updates. Now the XUV500 is equipped with ABS and EBD, dual airbags, seat belt alert for co-driver seat, speed alarm, rear parking sensor across the range. On the inside, some subtle changes are given, for example, the black interior colour in place of the old beige colour.

Renault Captur receives an extensive update interiorly

Renault has pulled the plug of the RXL and RXT variant. Now, it is available in two variants – RXE and Platine. With two variants, the Captur offers two powertrain options, a 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual and 1.5-litre petrol engine with 5-speed manual gearbox. These engines are able to make 110 PS/240 Nm and 106 PS/142 Nm.
