The French auto manufacturer Renault has totally stopped the compact SUV 85PS Duster in the Indian market due to its low sales performance.

The Renault Duster was first released in India in 2012 and became a big hit that helped Renault name to be put on the map in the Indian market. The Renault Duster 85PS diesel; however, has been losing its "gleam" in the fierce competition with other modern rivals in the country.

Renault has officially stopped the production of the 85PS Diesel Duster for two months which mainly results from the sharp decline in demand and the constraints in supply. The demand for the 85bhp diesel variant has been downsized substantially over the last one year that forced Renault to discontinue the production.

According to some recent reports, Renault is currently managing with the remaining stocks of the Duster petrol variant as well, but its production has not been terminated thanks to the basis of demand. Nevertheless, the sales indicator is not really impressive.

Commenting on this decision, representative of Renault said that:

“We have stopped the production of the model as of now due to disruptions in the supply chain. We are prioritizing the production of the 110 bhp diesel Renault Duster”.

The weakening demand in India has made Renault remove the Duster 85PS Diesel from its production line

Although Renault Duster was the first compact SUV in India, the likes of Maruti Brezza, Ford Ecosport and Hyundai Creta are instantly adjusted and developed to meet the changing needs and aspirations of the Indian market. It’s high time for the French automaker to make further actions to work out better improvements in technical aspects, revived design and impressive driving performance so that it can take over a serious role in the competition.
