The unveil day of Renault K-ZE is confirmed to be April 16. This electric vehicle is based on the popular hatchback Renault Kwid and will be even sold in India

At the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show 2019 on April 16, Renault will take the wrap off its anticipated Renault K-ZE EV. This model will be the smallest EV in Renault’s range and it is inspired by Renault’s small hatchback Kwid. In 2018, Renault displayed the concept of the Renault Kwid EV for the first time at Paris Motor Show. Ever since it has been spied testing in China in full disguise.

The manufacturing of the K-ZE will take place in China as a part of its partnership with Dongfeng Motor, a Chinese automotive manufacturer. Two carmakers have formed a joint venture named e-GT New Energy Automotive Company. Thereby, China will be the first market to get Renault K-ZE. Launches in other markets will follow. In India, it is expected that the Renault Kwid EV will arrive in 2020. Dongfeng’s factory’s annual production capacity is around 1,20,000 units.

Renault K-ZE will be first introduced in China while the India-spec version will go on sale the following year

Revealed the Paris Motor Show last year, the concept car of the K-ZE is identical to the Kwid in many ways. And there will be no different from the production of the K-ZE. However, expect the K-ZE in real life will come with some signature design elements to deviate from the regular Kwid hatchback. It might get a redesigned grille with LED headlight and tail light.

Renault K-ZE’s battery pack is expected to have a range of around 250km. It is also equipped with fast charging technology and double charging system which allows the vehicle to get charged by either domestic plugs or public charging port.

In China, the K-ZE gets rear parking camera, central infotainment system and in-vehicle navigation. It is hoped that the India-spec will get the same offer.

In the Indian market, the Renault Kwid is the most popular model of the firm. However, in comparison with other models in the market, the Kwid is not a best seller. Besides, Renault is working on a 7-seater MPV named Tribe.
