Renault is expected to launch a fleet of new EVs, ranging from vehicles for the small car segments to large crossovers and SUVs.

Renault is going to put a strong emphasis on the electric vehicle segment. The manufacturer is planning to launch a wide range of battery-powered vehicles, including eight different models, by 2022. Apparently, a majority of the upcoming EVs will slot on the SUV or crossover segment, both of which are currently witnessing impressively positive growth. Renault’s new EV line-up will also include two body types other than SUVs and crossovers.

In the global market, Renault is selling well with their current crossovers. Renault will make the best use of their current success with crossovers and expand the crossover range to the zero-emission vehicle space.

On the other hand, as a part of the big picture, Renault is likely to attempt with larger capacity vehicles like vans along with small entry-level vehicles for A-, B-, and C-segment. All in all, Renault will try to cover the passenger vehicle space, with the exclusion of the commercial vehicle market, on their grand electrification scheme.

Previously, Renault broke the cover of the Kwid EV or the Renault K-ZE at the Shanghai Motor Show 2019. This model will be launched in China while the India-spec version, according to some sources, is unlikely. Renault recently unveiled the EV Zoe for the European market. The electric version of the small hatchback receives the range of 380 kmph. Besides, Renault’s new electric range also includes the small Twizy and parcel van. A new electric sedan is also expected as a co-developed product by Renault and Samsung.

At the moment, in the India market, Renault is going to reveal the Triber MPV soon. The new MPV is the seven-seater version of the Kwid. With the Triber, Renault continues to use the affordable pricing and heavily localization strategy. Underpinned by the same CMF-A platform, the Triber will also get the same 1.0-litre petrol engine as on the Kwid. However, the engine will be tuned for higher power output. A BSVI-compliant turbocharged version of the same engine is expected to be launched in the later stage. The transmission option includes a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.
