Here, we have a digital rendering of what the upcoming Renault sub-4-metre sedan might look like.

Renault India has enjoyed quite a huge success with its affordable, entry-level models in India, like the Kwid and Triber. It’s no secret that the French automaker is currently working on a new subcompact SUV for the Indian market, which will go against the Maruti Brezza. Other than that, the company is working on another vehicle, codenamed ‘LBA’. Here, we have a digitally rendering of what this car might look like.

The image above has been created by Shoeb R Kalania of IndianAutosBlog. In the picture, we see that the front-end of the car is inspired by the 2020 Renault Captur (Euro-spec model), especially in the shape of the headlamps and front grille. There are chrome embellishments on the grille, to add a little premium touch to the car, and you have alloy wheels with five twin-spoked design. The front bumper has a large air dam in the middle, and the foglamps on either side have even more chrome outlining their housings. The rendering looks quite impressive, and we hope that Renault’s final design is as good as this.

The upcoming Renault subcompact sedan will be based on the same CMF-A+ architecture as the Triber. To reap the benefits of tax exemption, this new car will be a sub-4-metre sedan, just like the. What’s more, a few media reports also suggest that it might even undercut the segment leader, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, in terms of pricing. This might help attract customers who are on a tight budget.

While there has been no word on the powerplant, we expect two engine options to be offered in the upcoming Renault sedan. The first one would be the same 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-3 petrol mill as the Triber. This motor is capable of generating 71 PS and 96 Nm. The second one would be the new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. This motor has already made its way into the Nissan Kicks, and we expect Renault to detune it considerably for the LBA. Upon launch, the car will compete against Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Aura, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
