The Ford EcoSport was one of the first compact SUVs to launch in India. But as newer rivals arrive, the EcoSport feels old now. Ford India has announced a new lineup to stop the sales decline.

The Ford EcoSport was one of the first vehicles which tapped into the then non-existent crossover segment, and it has proved to a very successful one for the American auto giant. But over the years the crossover/compact SUV segment has grown at a rapid rate, with a couple of new models seemingly launching every year. Since its launch, the Ford EcoSport hasn’t gone through many evolutions, only a few cosmetic changes here and there. This makes the EcoSport one of the oldest designs and more importantly has been seriously lagging in new and modern features. But Ford India has finally decided to change that after the EcoSport registered its lowest ever sales in 2020.

Taking consumer feedback and interest at heart, Ford has come up with a new variant line-up for the EcoSport, and it is now available across every Ford dealership in the country. In a bid to ensure that every trim level in the EcoSport lineup delivers more value and features, the company has also introduced a sunroof on the Titanium trim. After customer provided feedback. This means now half of all the EcoSport trim levels get a sunroof. The addition of this new feature is aimed to stem the sales dip till the new model launches. Ford has been working on the next-generation EcoSport and a few renders have surfaced online even. By the looks of it will go for a new design language and Ford will launch it in India as soon as it is ready as we love our crossovers. The new Ford EcoSport is touted to share its platform with the Mahindra XUV 300, which just received 5-stars in the recent Global NCAP tests.
