Regarding the performance, the electric motor which powers the Nissan Leaf can deliver 150 hp against 320 Nm. Being the world top-selling EV, the Nissan Leaf will be offered to only a niche market and help the Japanese auto manufacturer reinforce its position in the Indian EV segment. The vehicle will be imported to India as a CBU unit and cost over Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, it will act as a testing EV to help Nissan further understand the performance of EVs under Indian conditions. This would make Nissan’s process of manufacturing EVs with a high level of localization for developing auto markets like India much more easier.
