Sixth-gen Toyota Hiace officially unveiled

Toyota has recently released the completely redesigned Hiace, which is now in its sixth generation, and will initially go on sale in the Philippines before making its debut in other markets

First introduced in 1976, the Toyota Hiace has recently been again introduced in the Philippines with the sixth generation. The highlight upgrades include a significant jump in terms of dimension for both the standard variant and long roof variant.  

Regarding the exterior, this new-gen is a thorough revamp from its predecessor. The overall design is sleeker as well as upscale now. The highlight evolution made includes 

  • Sharper headlamps

  • More elegant grille

  • LED DRLs

  • More angular front bumper 

  • Semi-bonnet design

There are a host of updates made on the car

As for the interior, the cabin bears no resemblance to the outgoing models. The key features offer are  

  • Compact multifunction steering wheel

  • New driver information display

  • Touchscreen infotainment system

  • Cruise control

  • LED reading lights 

  • Multiple USB ports

The 2019 Toyota Hiace can seat up to 17 passengers

 

There are two body types available which are normal roof (standard roof) and long roof (high roof). Here are detailed exterior dimensions and the tweaks compared to the existing model.

  • The 7GR 3.5-litre petrol unit

There are 2 engine options on offer

There has not any specification information on the petrol engine been confirmed yet. However, as for the diesel engine, it is now available in 163 PS/420 Nm, 176 PS/420 Nm and 176 PS/450 Nm versions in the Philippines. Both of 6-speed manual and automatic are optional in the transmission choices.
