Skoda Citigo-e iV is set to be launch on May 23. Ahead of its launch, Skoda has dropped a new teaser for the upcoming electric vehicle.

One day ahead of the official launch, the Czech manufacturer has released a sketch image of the Citigo-e iV for the first time. Before the sketch, Skoda has kept the new electric Citigo a close-guarded secret with little details revealed. The Citigo-e iV will be the brand’s first electric model ever.

Back in 2017, Skoda pulled the plug off the Citigo hatchback, citing the low demand for small hatchback as the main reason. The upcoming Citigo-e iV will be based on the old Citigo. However, the regular Citigo’s design looks quite outdated as it has been 8 years since it was introduced. So, the electric model is expected to come with some updates from the car manufacturer in terms of design.

Compared with the regular Citigo, the electric version gets a revised bumper and a closed grill, a twist commonly seen on the gas-going-electric model. The charging port of the Citigo-e iV will be located on the side profile, near the rear tailgate. And the alloy wheel looks different from the regular version with four-spoke design. The sketch doesn’t reveal how the door handles will look like. Besides, the rear is hidden from the sketch, but we could expect to see a slightly-revised rear with new taillights and an updated bumper.

The electric Citigo only gets some slight changes from the regular Citigo

It is likely that Skoda will carry forward the interior of the ICE Citigo model to the new electric version. However, subtle changes are not excluded. It will come with up-to-date features like the touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, push-button start, regenerative braking system and more.

Citigo-e iV is going to feature the powertrain from the electric Volkswagen Up. The 18.7 kWh battery pack is capable of providing 81 hp and 210 Nm. The range is expected to be around 180 km.

The first electric car from Skoda will make debut in Slovakia, Czech, alongside Skoda’s first plug-in hybrid production car, the Superb PHEV.
