Skoda Kushaq Finally Sheds Its Covers, Looks Butch

The all-new Skoda Karoq will get propelled by a 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The Czech automaker Skoda has finally revealed the production-spec Kushaq in the Indian market. It was first showcased last year at the Auto Expo 2020 as Vision IN concept. The all-new Kushaq is the first Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, which is based on the company’s MQB-AO-IN platform. The SUV is heavily localized, and it gets up to 95 per cent local contents. The price of the Skoda SUV is expected to reveal in the coming weeks.

In terms of looks, the SUV looks quite aggressive. The front fascia of the car gets a wide butterfly grille surrounded with chrome accents, which looks quite premium. The illumination duties are done by aggressive-looking headlamps with LED DRL. At the rear, it gets a roof spoiler and a faux diffuser to give the SUV a sporty look. The rear profile of the car also gets C-shaped LED taillights and a two-tone bumper. On the side, it gets 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and sleek roof rails. Inside, the all-new Skoda Kushaq gets a 10.-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with the latest smartphone connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. One of the most notable things inside the SUV is the addition of a two-spoke steering wheel, which is also offered in the 2021 Skoda Superb.

The steering wheel gets audio and cell phone controls, cruise control and voice commands. The top-spec trims of the car will get a customized 10-inch fully-digital instrument console, which provides navigation and driving information. It comes loaded with features like ventilated front seats, Type-C USB ports, my Skoda connect app, internal memory storage and much more. It derives power from a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol mill and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol unit. The former develops 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 150 PS and 250 Nm. In the Indian market, it is expected to be priced between Rs 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, the all-new Skoda Kushaq will rub shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
