Skoda Rapid AT Bookings Open Before Launch Next Month

Skoda has started to accept the pre-bookings for the upcoming Rapid AT. The new Skoda Rapid AT can now be pre-booked via authorized dealerships or online with INR 25,000 paid by the customers. The new vehicle will start to be delivered on September 18, 2020.

The Skoda Rapid automatic will receive its power from the 1.0-litre 3-cyl turbo gasoline burner which also serves as the power source for the VW Vento and Polo. The motor can generate 109 BHP against 175 Nm. The transmission duties will be undertaken by a 6-speed torque converter which sends the power to the front wheels. The claimed ARAI-certified fuel mileage stands at 16.24 kmpl.

Commenting on the Rapid automatic, Brand Director of Skoda Auto stated,

An overwhelming response from brand loyalists and auto enthusiasts from across the nation has obligated the Czech marque to push the yardstick further and introduce the convenience of an AT transmission across the Rapid TSI range, at a very competitive price point.”

While India continues to get an almost decade-old Skoda Rapid (based on India-spec VW Vento), internationally, the Czech carmaker offers a more modern model that isn't India-bound anytime soon.

The 2020 Skoda Rapid with a 1.0-litre petrol motor was launched by the Czech automaker but with an MT unit only. Apart from the alterations to the mechanic specifications, the sedan also received slight tweaks in terms of design and features. These include LED DRLs, a new trunk spoiler and Clubber alloy rims. The new car is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, automatic air conditioner, autocruise, etc.
