Skoda Rapid Matte Concept To Launch This Year

The German carmaker Skoda showcased the Rapid Matte Concept at the Auto Expo 2020, and now the company has confirmed that they are all-set initiate production of the car, and the sedan will hit the Indian market by the third quarter of 2020.

Czech carmaker Skoda showcased the new Rapid Matte Concept at the Auto Expo 2020. And now, the company has confirmed that they are all-set to initiate production of the car, and the sedan will launch in Indian market by the third quarter of 2020. Speaking on the same, Skoda Auto India, Director, Zac Hollis, said: "What we have on display is our first-ever factory painted matte colour car. This will be available on the Indian market from later this year."

Besides, the unique matte grey colour, the new Skoda Rapid Matte will also employ some subtle cosmetical upgrades. The new updates include addition of darkened headlights, red coloured wing mirror caps, red body side moulding, blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels, red trunk lid garnish, red brake callipers, rear diffuser along with red coloured trunk lid spoiler.

On the inside, the new Skoda Rapid Matte features a dual-tone interior, gearshift selector, scuff plates with Rapid badging, elegant Alcantara seat covers and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Mechanically, the Skoda Rapid Matte gets propelled by a 1.0-litre, TSI Turbocharged, three-pot petrol unit. One can expect, the sedan to derive power from a BS-VI compliant mill, which is good at shredding out 110 PS of power. The all-new BS-VI compliant 1.0-litre engine will be 25% more efficient as compared to the BS-IV 1.6-litre MPI petrol unit, which offers 20 kmpl of mileage.

The upcoming Skoda Rapid Matte concept will be sold in India alongside the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo. In other news, Skoda will launch the Karoq into the Indian market in April this year. Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. The SUV will get retailed in India through CBU route. It’ll get powered by a BS-VI compliant, 1.5-litre, TSI direct-injection, turbo-petrol motor, which churns out power and torque outputs of 148 bhp and 250 Nm. The engine comes coupled to a 7-speed DSG.
