Some Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy supporters are celebrating the appointment of new chief minister in Andhra Pradesh by featuring his name on the number plates of their vehicles

Elected as Chief Minister (CM) of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former leader of YSR Congress Party, has made the headline with his success in the latest elections. Y.S Reddy supporters are showing up their fondness for him in a very unique way. To celebrate his win, some supporters decided to ditch their actual registration plates and replace them with plates featuring 'Jai Jagan' slogan. However, this act of celebration has come under the scanner for flouting the traffic rules.

The report by The Times of India has shown two cars, a Volkswagen Polo and a Hyundai Elite i20, with the "Jai Jagan" registration plates. Hyundai Elite i20 seen on the picture appears to undergo certain modifications. It gets an aftermarket rear diffuser, roof spoiler and aftermarket wheels. It is relatively clear that the owner of this Elite i20 car is a real fan of car customisation and a proud supporter of the newly-elected chief minister in Andhra Pradesh. The proof is that the car not only features the custom number plate but also gets the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy decal on the rear windshield.

Another vehicle that also screams love for Andhra Pradesh’s new leader is a Hyundai Verna. Instead of the “Jai Jagan” name, this car’s plate reads “AP CM Jagan” which is a short version for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan.

These car owners must be excited about making their political statement. However, their freedom of speech does not align with the traffic law. Sadly, these custom number plates are illegal, and the owners could be fined for using them on the public streets. The registration number of the car, according to the traffic rule, is required to be written and should not include any irregular details. Under the current law, every new car should come with a highly-secured registration plate that doesn’t allow any alternation. Besides, the design of registration plates should be synchronized across the country.
