Suzuki Jimny is expected to arrive at India as a five-door model. The India-spec Jimny will be based on the Jimny Sierra.

In the current market, Mahindra Thar is the only offroader vehicle in India. This SUV easily wins over all customers of this segment. It is reported that Maruti Suzuki is considering launching offroad-capable Suzuki Jimny into the same segment. The enormous succeed of new-gen Mahindra Thar might have prompted Maruti Suzuki to go ahead with the launch of offroad Jimny.

Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki has brought the Jimny to the Auto Expo 2020 to gauge Indian buyers’ responses. It is a well-known fact that 5-door version of Suzuki Jimny is considered for the Indian market. However, the launch details of this model are not revealed yet. In the meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki’s plant will manufacture 3-door Jimny model for export purpose.

Reports also suggest that 5-door Jimny will be based on the global Jimny Sierra. If you don’t know, the Jimny Sierra is the bigger version of the standard Jimny. This model measure 3,550 mm long against 3,395mm on the standard Jimny. The standard Suzuki Jimny’s width and height stand at 1,475mm and 1,725mm, respectively, while Jimny Sierra is 1,645mm wide and 1,730mm tall.
