Suzuki Jimny Waiting Period Touches 1.5 Years!!

The waiting period for Suzuki Jimny has reached up to 1.5 years in Japan. This could delay the launch of India-spec Jimny. The SUV is expected to hit our market by the first half of next year.

Suzuki Jimny is one of the best-selling products offered by the carmaker internationally. The SUV is quite popular among the customers around the globe, and because of its high popularity, the waiting period of the car has been increased drastically. In the Japanese market, the waiting period the Suzuki Jimny has reached up to 1.5 years. It’s been two years since the Jimny was first launched in Japan, and the customers are still quite excited about the SUV. In the Japanese market, the Suzuki Jimny was launched back in July 2018. The carmaker retails the Mk4 Jimny in a Kie version (Jimny) and a bigger version (Jimny Sierra), which Suzuki exports to the international markets.

The carmaker manufactures the Suzuki Jimny at the company’s production facility in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Initially, when the car was first launched in the domestic market, Suzuki sets an annual sales target of 15,000 units for Jimny and 1,200 units for the Jimny Sierra. Last month, the waiting period of the SUV increased up to 1 year two months for the Jimny and 1.5 years for the Jimny Sierra. A few reports suggest that Suzuki will start the production of the Jimny Sierra in India at the Hansalpur plant situated in Gujarat. The car was showcased early this year at the 2020 Auto Expo, and the automaker said that they’ll introduce a 5-door version of the SUV exclusively for the Indian market.

The India-bound Jimny will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine

The India-spec Suzuki Jimny will derive power from the K15B 1.5-litre gasoline engine, which puts out 102 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same petrol engine does duties in the Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6 and upcoming S-Cross. Inside, the car will comes loaded with features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, steering-mounted controls, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and an ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4WD system.
