Suzuki is now offering retro-themed decals for the Kie-spec Jimny and Jimny Sierra in the Japanese market.

With the evolution of automobile design, most carmakers have pretty much bid goodbye to the straight lines and boxy silhouettes seen on the retro cars. However, there’s something really exciting and nostalgic about the boxy SUVs. The smallest participant of this small group of car models is the Suzuki Jimny. To add some more of the retro-charm to this bright potion of neo-retro SUV, Suzuki is offering some retro-themed graphics. With the graphics, Japanese-carmaker is trying to link the two eras of this teensy SUV. The decals are inspired by the 1980s Samurai and Sidekicks.

Suzuki Jimny with Offroad Style decals.

Starting with the very first offering - Offroad Style - it comes with a striped pattern for the top and side portions of the clamshell bonnet and for the rear window line. It is done in a colour scheme of black, grey, and red. Also, a ‘Real Offroad’ decal for the sides is a part of this package. Next on the list is ‘Heritage Style’ decals. This package features a techno digital themed decal for the car’s side profile. With the use of silver, grey and orange colours, it accentuates the overall appeal of the Jimny.

The Revival Style decals remind of the Samurai sold between late 1980s and early 1990s.

The ‘Revival Style’ is the one that connects most to the Sidekicks and Samurais of 90s with its squiggle graphic pattern. Last on the list is the ‘Survival Style’ package. It features a thick decal for the side of the car with a leopard-style hybrid camouflage pattern. It looks the wildest of the lot and would be seen most on the kitted-up examples of the car.

Suzuki Jimny is a fairly loaded 4x4 with respectable offroad credentials. It comes with a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol motor that belts out 102 PS/130 Nm. Offered with either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT, Jimny gets a 4x4 low-transfer case as standard. Also, a tax-evading smaller version of the car is also sold in Japan. It misses out on fender flares and gets a smaller 0.6L turbo-petrol motor. However, the international markets only get the former one, which is called as Jimny Sierra in the Japanese Domestic Market. Suzuki has developed these graphics for both the versions of the car, but if they’ll be available in markets other than Japan, is not yet known.
