Half of its 13,000 units produced at their three plants in the central of Japan is suspected to be faulty reported. Back in 2016, Suzuki admitted that its test on fuel economy was not compliant with Japanese regulations. Suzuki claimed that the flaw was caused by the inadequate training of the staff and the lack of supervision from the senior staff.

Yamaha Motor also claimed that it was their staff’s unawareness of their wrong-doing testing procedures.

The report also shows that since 2014, out of 1,875 Mazda cars going under the sampling inspection, there is nearly 4 percent of them was improperly inspected. Whereas, the inaccurately-inspected models accounted for 2 percent of the 335 units from Yamaha Motor that were subjected to sampling inspection.

Keiichi Ishii, the Japanese transport minister, said, "It is extremely regrettable. The ministry will strictly instruct the (manufacturers) to make sure thorough preventive measures are taken."

Three Japanese automakers promise to take steps to prevent the incorrect testing from happening again.
