Suzuki and Toyota have signed a joint-venture where the carmakers will be able to sell each other’s products in different markets across the globe. Earlier this year, Suzuki introduced the Across, which was the Suzuki-badged version of the Toyota RAV4. Now in the European market, Suzuki has unveiled the Swace, which is basically a badge-engineered Toyota Corolla Wagon. It is expected to go on sale in the European market by the end of this year.

On the Swace, Suzuki has followed the same suite as the Across. It looks mostly identical to the Toyota Corolla Wagon except for a different front face. In comparison to the donor car, the Swace gets a redesigned front bumper with a different treatment for the lower air dam and fog lamp housings. Also, the upper grille is a sleeker unit now as it does not houses the carmaker’s logo anymore. On the sides, there’s any hardly any change to talk of, except for a different design for the alloy wheels. While the overall design of the Swace remains the same as the Corolla Wagon, it certainly is good news. Since the Corolla Wagon is a looker from every angle.

Like the design, the powertrain of the Swace remains identical to that of the Corolla Wagon. There will be a 1.8L petrol motor under the hood that will come coupled to an electric motor. Together, they will propel the Swace to 100 kmph mark from a standstill in 11.1 seconds. This setup will allow the driver to choose between 3 modes - engine only, battery only, and hybrid. Talking of the power outputs, the petrol motor develops 90 HP, whereas the electric motor develops 71 HP. However, the combined output is measured at 120 HP. The transmission duties on the Swace will be performed by a CVT only.
