Tata Motors plans to introduce an Altroz-based MPV in the near future. The all-new MPV will be launched to rival the Maruti Ertiga in the Indian market.

The MPV segment in India has already started getting into the limelight. Many carmakers are now planning to enter this segment because of the rising demand. The recently launched Kia Carnival is a hit and is quite liked by the customers around the country. The MPV targets the customers who are looking out for a more luxurious vehicle than the Toyota Innova Crysta. On the other hand, the second-gen Maruti Ertiga continues to be the most affordable and practical MPV in the market. The re-emergence of the MPV segment has also grabbed the attention of other leading auto manufacturers.

The MPV will be based on Tata's ALFA platform

Hyundai has recently reported that they are planning to reintroduce its MPV project, which they suspended after showcasing the Hexaspace concept. Moreover, Tata is also planning to introduce an all-new MPV for the domestic market to compete against Maruti Ertiga. Till now, Tata has not made any official announcement regarding the upcoming public mover, as we expect this project to be in the feasibility test phase at the moment. The upcoming MPV is expected to be based on the Tata Altroz’s Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced (ALFA) platform. Here we have a new rendering based on the Altroz-based MPV, which has been created by Rushlane.

The upcoming MPV will likely to get propelled by a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel unit

This rendering suggests that the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy goes quite well with the MPV body style. An MPV based on this design language would look sporty as well as proportional. The new model could share many of its components with the Altroz hatchback to keep the price competitive. Talking about the mechanical specs, the upcoming MPV will derive power from a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol mill and 1.5-litre turbocharged oil-burner. The engine will come paired with a 5-speed MT and AMT gearbox.
