In January 2020, Tata set its first footstep into the premium hatchback segment with the Altroz. Unlike other Tata models in the stables, the Tata Altroz is based on the company’s new modular ALFA platform that is much lighter and stronger than the earlier architecture. Other than that, the Tata Altroz gets a pretty look with a distinctive front end and rear end, thanks to the presences of modern design cues like swooping beltline, flared wheel arches, aggressively cut rear-end among more.

There’s also a 1.5-litre diesel motor churning out 89 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque. Currently, the Altroz is available with a single 5-speed manual transmission across the range. However, it is expected to get a DCT or a CVT option along with a turbo unit in the future. Spy shots of the Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol have surfaced on the media channels recently.

It is worth noting that Tata Altroz is the first car to be scored 5 stars from the Global NCAP safety test taken specifically for the Indian cars. Tata Motors is selling the Altroz in the price range of Rs 5.44 – 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it one of the safest cars under 10 lakhs in India.
