Tata Altroz EV Can Offer A 300-Kilometre Travel Range

The fully-electric versions of two Tata ICE models have been introduced: the Tigor EV and Nexon EV. The latter has been warmly welcomed by the Indian customers and become the best-selling electric car in the country in the first half of this FY with more than 60% market share. Following the success of these two electric vehicles, the home-grown auto manufacturer is expected to introduce a more affordable EV to the Indian auto market to attract even more customers. The upcoming new EV will be an electric car based on the Altroz. This model was first showcased at the 2019 Gevena Motor Show and later made it to the Auto Expo 2020.

Despite being debuted in India at the Auto Expo 2020, the Altroz EV is yet to have its technical details revealed. Nevertheless, we are quite sure that the Altroz EV will be the second car to feature Ziptron electric technology after the Nexon EV. The Tata Altroz EV will be packed with an IP67 rated dust and waterproof battery with fast charging capability. Nevertheless, the most unique selling point of the EV will be its driving range of up to around 300 kilometres per charge.

Once launched, the Tata Altroz EV will become the first fully-electric premium hatchback in the Indian auto market. The vehicle is likely to borrow most of its feature list from the ICE-powered Altroz with some additional features. The ICE version of the Tata Altroz is currently priced from INR 5.44 lakh to INR 8.95 lakh. Nevertheless, the Altroz EV is anticipated to be more highly-priced with a starting price of approximately INR 10 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom)
