Tata Altroz EV Showcased in Near-Production Form at Auto Expo 2020

Following the launch of the Tata Altroz, Tata Motor has revealed the new electric version, Tata Altroz EV, at Auto Expo 2020.

At the Auto Expo 2020, Tata’s stall displays a total of 7 cars. Some among them are BSVI-compliant model. One attraction in Tata’s corner is the electric version of the Altroz. It is the first time we have seen the Tata Altroz at its full grace. Earlier, the car made a debut at 2019 Geneva Motor Show under the near-production form.

Exterior-wise, the Tata Altroz Electric carries forward the full design package of the premium hatchback with some minor tweaks. Based on the same ALFA Arc platform as its fossil-fuel-powered counterpart, Tata Altroz electric remains split LED tail light setting linked by a piano plastic. However, there are slight changes on the front end and the side profile. For example, the front doesn’t carry any vent for air ventilation and the side now comes with a new set of alloy wheels.

Tata Altroz EV retains the same dashboard design from its internal combustion counterpart, except for the new blue inserts around air vents and the central console. The highlights on the inside include a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Carplay along with other connectivity technology, Harman audio system, ambient lighting system, and cruise control. On the safety front, the features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, high-speed alert, and seat belt warning for driver and co-driver. The most noticeable change is the replacement of gearshift for a new rotary control for selecting driving modes on the armrest.

Under the hood, Tata Altroz will get the Ziptron powertrain which is currently used on the Nexon EV. The 30.2kWh battery pack can deliver a range of 300 per charge. The specific specifications are not revealed yet but the power output will be similar to the Nexon EV with 129 PS and 245 Nm. It is expected that Tata will bring this electric vehicle to the market by the end of this month. The price will start around Rs 14 lakh.
