With the launch of the long-anticipated Tata Altroz, the home-grown automaker has participated in the premium hatchback segment for the first time ever. While it's the first time the carmaker is participating in the B2-segment, the company already enjoys a representation in the A2-segment in the form of the Tiago. The Tiago has been selling in decent numbers but the warm welcome that the Altroz has received has helped it outperform the cheaper sibling.

On the other hand, the Tata Altroz is powered by the same petrol motor as its smaller sibling and an additionally 1.5-litre Revotorq oil burner which can deliver 90 PS against 200 Nm. The transmission duties on both of the Altroz versions are undertaken by a standard 5-speed MT across all the variants. Tata has announced that an optional DCT will also be introduced to the premium hatchback later.
