The long-awaited launch Tata Altroz is just around the corner. The car was currently seen arriving at dealer’s place.

Since last year, Tata Motors has been prepping for the launch of the Tata Altroz, its first-ever premium hatchback. In the following months, this long-awaited car will be launched in the market. The pre-production model made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. Ahead of its official launch, units of the Altroz were recently spotted at the dealerships. It is also the first time that we see the Tata Altroz in its full glory in a production form.

On the inside, Tata Altroz comes with a black and grey colour scheme. Tata Motors also borrows many design clues from the Nexon to apply on its premium hatchback. On the dashboard, it features a floating touchscreen infotainment system, similar to that on the Tata Nexon. It also shares the navigating controls with the Nexon. However, there are some signature features that make it different from the compact SUV. For example, it features a semi-digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls and a unique automatic climate control panel. As revealed by the leaked image, there are even many storage spaces across the cabin, including cubby holes under the climate control, behind the gear lever and the one in the central console. It is also visible from the pictures that Altroz comes with a front central armrest.

With regards to the powertrain of the Tata Altroz, this car is expected to come with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol powertrain. This engine comes in two forms, a regular version that is used on the Tiago and a turbocharger derivative. The former can produce a power output of 83 PS while the latter is able to put out a maximum power of 110 PS. The Tata Altroz will come with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. At the moment, it is unlikely that the Altroz will be available with diesel engine, at least from the beginning.

Prices of Tata Altroz are not announced yet. However, it is expected to fall into the price range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh. Tata Altroz’s main rivals include Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. For more car news, check out IndianAuto.com.
