Tata Altroz was recently spotted on the way to Leh. It has been seen running beside a Maruti Baleno RS.

Tata Motors is beating the clock toward the Altroz’s official launch. Tata Altroz was first introduced under the 45X Concept's avatar at the 2018 Auto Expo. After that, in March 2019, it has appeared again in the public eyes at the Geneva Motor Show. It is expected to launch in June 2019.

Recently, a video posted by a Youtube user has shown three Altroz under disguise beside the Maruti Baleno RS which is supposed to benchmark against the Altroz. Also pinpointed from the spy shots, the Altroz bore the number plate of MG14 that indicates that these vehicles come from the Tata’s Pune’s plant.

Tata Altroz, after launch, will enter the premium hatchback space which is dominated by the Baleno. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Tata takes the Maruti Baleno RS as the benchmark against the Altroz. Maruti Baleno RS is top-spec variant powered by a 1-litre 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine with 103 PS and 150 Nm under on tap.

In comparison, the petrol Altroz is powered by either a 1.2 litre, 3 cylinders naturally aspirated engine or a 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine. The first engine derives from the Tiago and could deliver the maximum power of 83.8 bhp and a torque of 114 Nm. The latter is the same engine used on the Nexon. This unit is good for 108 bhp and 175 Nm. The diesel trim receives power from Nexon’s 1.5-litre turbo engine but with lower power output and hence, higher mileage.

Tata Altroz will be launched in June

Tata Altroz will be the first to be underpinned by the new ALFA Architecture. Stylishly, it is inspired by the IMPACT 2.0 Design. On the latest spy shots, the Altroz is seen with swept back headlamps, LED DRLs and headlights. On the side profile, the Altroz gets flush door handles.

On the inside, Tata offers a wide range of features. The dashboard sports a large touchscreen on the centre and a digital analog instrument cluster and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Cruise control, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchor comes as standard safety features across the range.
