Tata Altroz Turbo-Petrol Price Leaked, Cheaper than VW Polo TSI

These days, the demand for turbo petrol motors is significantly higher that what it was until a few years ago. With this, either many cars are either getting a new turbo petrol engine option or new cars are having one by default. The next entrant to the ever-expanding list of cars which come with turbo petrol motors is the Tata Altroz, which will soon receive a 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor to take the fight straight to the VW Polo. The Tata Altroz was launched in January this year, and since then it has been available with a Tiago-sourced 1.2-litre 3-cyl NA petrol engine which can generate 83 PS against 113 Nm and a 1.5-litre 4-cyl oil burner which is good for 90 PS against 200 Nm. Both the versions come with a 5-speed manual gearbox each.

The Tata Altroz turbo petrol is reported to have a starting price of INR 7.99 lakh.

The plans of introducing a turbo-petrol motor and a DCT for the Tata Altroz have been disclosed by Tata Motors on numerous occasions. This particular variant of the vehicle was first showcased in its production avatar at the 2019 Gevena Motor Show. The latest leaked image suggests that the car launch is imminent.

The turbo petrol variant will be a 1.2-litre turbo gasoline burner which can generate 110 PS against 140 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed MT with a DCT anticipated to be introduced at a later time. The turbo petrol engine will be available in four variants: XT, XT (O), XZ and XZ (O) with prices of INR 7.99 lakh, INR 8.19 lakh, INR 8.59 lakh and INR 8.75 lakh, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom). Given the fact that the registration for the Altroz Turbo has been filed by Tata Motors, the car is expected to be launched in this festive season.

The regular Tata Altroz is currently priced from Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh. The vehicle competes against the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno.
