Tata Altroz Turbo was recently spotted on a public road without camouflage. The new Altroz Turbo is likely to go on sale in the upcoming festive season and will lock horns with the Maruti Baleno and the new Hyundai i20

Tata Altroz was launched earlier this year. Being a premium hatchback, the Tata Altroz is currently positioned against the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz. These vehicles are highly competitive with most of them being good-looking and well-equipped models. To stand out from the rest, car manufacturers must bring something new to the table. That’s also what Tata is trying to achieve by introducing a turbocharged petrol engine on the Tata Altroz. Currently, n the premium hatchback space, there is only the Volkswagen Polo that comes with a turbocharged petrol engine.

This time, however, the upcoming turbocharged hatchback has been spotted in its signature golden colour. Apart from the new badge, there are no cosmetic updates spotted on the exterior of the new Tata Altroz Turbo. The interior of the new Tata Altroz Turbo is yet to be revealed. However, we can expect that Tata will slightly revise the interior design to distinguish it from the standard version. Tata Motors has not yet confirmed what engine will be employed on the Tata Altroz Turbo.

Still, some reports suggest that the Altroz Turbo will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which can generate a maximum power of 108 BHP and peak torque of 140 Nm. The same engine is also used on the Tata Nexon. However, when powering the SUV, this engine comes in a different state of tune - 119 BHP and 170 Nm. As for the transmission options, it is likely that Tata will offer the Altroz Turbo with two gearbox choices, a 6-speed manual and a newly-developed 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
