Tata Motors has silently updated the features list of the XT trim of the Altroz. It now gets a fully automatic climate control unit in place of the manual controls of the HVAC unit.

Tata Altroz is certainly doing well on the sales chart, and the carmaker is quite happy with its performance on the sales curve. The Altroz was launched at a starting price of Rs. 5.29 lakh for the base-spec XE variant. While the XE trim appears as an affordable option, the mid-spec XT trim doesn’t. It is priced at Rs. 6.84 lakh for the petrol variant and at Rs. 8.44 lakh for the diesel variant. Now, in order to make this variant more lucrative to the buyers, Tata Motors have silently updated its features list. With the update, it now gets automatic climate control with voice commands, which it initially missed out. Before rolling down this update, the XT trim was offered with manual controls for AC and blower.

The climate control was offered only on the top-spec trims - XZ and XZ(O). That being said, the XT variant of the Altroz comes loaded with a host of features, such as LED DRLs, tilt-adjustable steering wheels, steering wheel mounted buttons for audio and cruise control, HARMAN-sourced 7-inch infotainment unit with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Google Now functionality, keyless entry & go, push-button start-stop system, auto-folding ORVM, idle start-stop function and more.

In comparison to the top-spec XZ and XZ(O) trims, the XT variant misses out on certain features, like R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels, height-adjustable driver seat, front and rear seat armrest, one-touch power window (driver side), auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rear washer and wiper, and contrasting black roof.

Talking of the powertrain options, all the trims of the Altroz can be had with either of the two engine options – 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel. The smaller 1.2L petrol motor here is a 3-pot naturally aspirated mill that also performs duties on the lesser Tiago and Tigor. It pushes out a peak power output of 86 PS and max torque of 113 Nm. The oil burner, on the other hand, is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged unit that churns out a rated power and torque output of 90 PS and 200 Nm, respectively. Both of these engines are offered with a 5-speed MT only. However, an automatic transmission is likely to be a part of the package by festive season this year.
