Tata Altroz XZ Trim Loses Out on Smart Wearable Key

Tata Altroz iTurbo has just been launched in the Indian market. The latest variant of the Altroz comes with a new 1.2L turbo-petrol engine, which is borrowed from the Nexon. With its introduction, Tata Motors has also revised the feature list of the various trims of the Altroz. The carmaker has made a certain addition to the list, like Xpress cooling, IRA connected car tech, and two extra tweeters in the XZ trim. However, the manufacturer has now removed the wearable key from the list for the XZ trim. It will now be available with the range-topping XZ+ trim only. While the wearable key of the Altroz might not be an important feature for many, few consumers will be disheartened with this move.

To keep the feature count higher than before, Tata Motors has now started to offer black leatherette upholstery in the Altroz. This is a great move as the grey fabric used earlier never looked that good. Along with these powertrain and features updates, the Altroz iTurbo comes with a new Harbour Blue paint scheme. The option of new turbo-petrol motor and Harbour Blue paint scheme will be available from the mid-spec XT trim.

Talking of its price, the Altroz iTurbo starts at Rs. 7.74 lakh. The Nexon-derived 1.2L turbo-petrol unit develops a peak power output of 110 PS and max torque of 140 Nm in the Altroz iTurbo. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Also, Tata Motors has swapped the Eco mode button with a Sport mode button now.

The Altroz is also available with a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol motor and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine. The 1.2L naturally aspirated motor is tuned to produce a rated power output of 86 PS and peak torque of 113 Nm. The 1.5L oil burner, on the other hand, dishes out peak power and torque output of 90 PS and 200 Nm, respectively. The Altroz is currently offered with a 5-speed MT only, irrespective of the engine option you choose. However, a 7-speed DCT is on the cards and is likely to be introduced soon. The Altroz rivals the likes of Maruti Baleno, VW Polo, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz in the Indian market.
