Tata Motors passenger car sales in Sep 2020 stood at 21,200 units, posting the highest 162% sales growth in 8 years.
Tata Motors has had a dreaming month for Sep 2020 in terms of sales as the company just reported a whopping year-on-year sales growth of 162% in September. Specifically, the home-grown carmaker has recorded a total sales number of 21,200 units as against 8,097 units registered in the same month in 2019. This is the highest sales figure achieved by Tata Motors in the last 8 years.
Thanks to this massive sales momentum, Tata has climbed to the third spot of the country’s manufacture chart last month. Whereas, Mahindra & Mahindra witnessed a 16 per cent dip in total domestic sales in the same month, losing out its position to Kia which registers a total sales number of 18,676 units. That said, the all-new Kia Sonet combined with Kia Seltos are the biggest sales contributors of the South Korean company, recording a 141 per cent sales increase compared to the year-ago period.
Back to Tata Motors’ future plan, the company is preparing for the introduction of the Tata Altroz turbo-petrol version in the coming months. According to some recent reports, the new Tata Altroz Turbo will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that punches out 108 BHP of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque. There will be a 5-speed manual transmission along with a dual-clutch automatic option to take over the transmission duties.
In another update, Tata is also gearing up for the launch of Tata Gravitas – the bigger three-row version of Tata Harrier towards the year-end. The company also trademarked the Camo and Dark Editions for the existing Tata Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Altroz and Harrier. While the Dark edition of Tata Harrier has been launched at the price of around Rs 16.76 lakh (ex-showroom), the launch timelines of the other cars are yet to be revealed.
