Tata Harrier Delivers ARAI Mileage of 16.7kmpl, lower than Jeep Compass

The ARAI fuel economy rating of the Tata Harrier was revealed recently. It stands at 16.7kmpl, which is less than what the Jeep Compass offers

Tata Harrier has finally arrived after a long time of expecting and waiting. At the launch of this SUV, more details are also revealed. One of the most important figures, the ARAI mileage, is confirmed to rate at 16.7kmpl.

At 16.7kmpl, it is slightly lower than its rival, the Compass which also share the same engine. Both Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain, on the Compass, could return the higher mileage of 17.3kmpl.

The major reason for lower mileage is that the Tata Harrier is larger and heavier than the Compass. Here is how the Compass edges out the Harrier in terms of fuel efficiency: The dimensions of the Compass are pegged at 4,359mm, 1,818mm and 1,640mm in length, width and height while the Harrier is larger in every aspect, at 4,598 mm, 1,894 mm and 1,706 mm, respectively. The Compass weights at 1,537 kg while the Harrier measures at 1,680kg.

Some impressive features are packed on the Harrier:

Exterior: Xenon HID projector headlamps, LED tail lights, 17-inch alloy wheels

Interior:

  • 9-speaker JBL-sourced sound system

  • Semi-digital instrument cluster

  • 8-way adjustable driver seat

  • Terrain Response system

In terms of safety, Tata Harrier gets some advanced techs, including

  • Hill Hold Control

  • Hill Descent Control

  • Roll Over Mitigation

  • Corner Stability Control

  • Electronic Traction Control

  • Electric Stability Program

  • Reverse Parking Camera.

At launch, Tata Harrier’s standard variant is priced at 12.69 lakh. There are four trims available, which are XE, XM, XT and XZ.
