The exterior of the Tata Harrier has gone official for a while but no details of the interior are revealed yet until the recently. Tata has given us some sneak peek of the interior of their new SUV. Through the shadowy teaser, we can catch some key design features for the new Harrier.

Tata Harrier - The New Benchmark Of Grandeur

First of all, the dashboard will host a floating 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. The dashboard design is kept simple by having a minimal number of buttons and controls. On the side of the driver, it is spotted that the Harrier will sport a three-spoke steering wheel that resembles one from the Hexa and gets premium leather-wrapped cover. One highlight of the cabin is the silver accent stretching along the dash. Moreover, the silver touch is also contoured on the AC vents. Faux wood is also featured dash along the silver trim. The colour scheme of the Tata Harrier is also revealed to be grey-and-brown.

As far as we know, Tata Harrier’s infotainment system is outsourced from Visteon who also provides the interior equipment for the Range Rover Velar. Besides, this unit on the Harrier will be packed with all the goodies like MirrorLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay compatibility. The touchscreen will also display the images from the reverse camera and provide the navigation function as well. With this new infotainment unit on the Harrier, Tata has parted with their long-time supplier – Harman. It is expected that this change will bring in the smoother performance for the infotainment system. However, as far as the entertainment system concerned, the Harrier still hosts Harman-sourced sound system just like in the Tiago, Tigor or Nexon.

Some other features that could be expected to see on the Harrier are smartphone storage spaces for the rear passenger row and cooled compartment set under the driver’s armrest.

Tata Harrier receives power from the all-new Kryotec engine which is reworked from Fiat-sourced engine seen on the Jeep Compass. This engine is promised to be reliable and powerful. In terms of the gearbox option, the Harrier will offer two transmission types which are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. However, as Tata has confirmed, the automatic gearbox is unlikely to make it on time with the debut of the Harrier but it will appear later when the 7-seater version of the Harrier is launched. The automatic gearbox is in high demand, Tata will not let the Harrier go on without the addition of automatic transmission.
