Tata HBX cross-hatchback will be the next big launch from the homegrown car manufacturer instead of the Gravitas as planned previously

Earlier this year, Tata Motors confirmed that the Tata Gravitas, a seven-seater SUV based on the Harrier, will go on sale this month. However, it was recently confirmed that the launch will be deferred by a few months. Due to the delay in launch of the Gravitas, Tata seems to have shifted its focus to the production-spec HBX. Apparently, the cross-hatch HBX will become the next major launch of Tata this year and will likely hit the dealership floors by November.

Tata HBX and Gravitas are the two big launches from Tata at the moment. The former will enter a small segment of crossover hatchbacks and compete against the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Ignis. The other model will go against other seven-seater SUVs like MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500.

Tata Gravitas’ launch is delayed until next year while the HBX should be here by the festive season. It is the most important time for the automotive market. Many carmakers choose this season to launch their new cars or offer attractive discounts to draw the attention of customers. Even though demand for crossover-style hatchback isn't huge, there is still hope that the car will have a dramatic entrance to the market during the Diwali season.
