Tata Motors’ design department has been coming up with some great designs ever since Impact 2.0 design language has been adopted by them. The new design language has worked as the baseline for the design of Nexon facelift, Harrier, Altroz and other Tata cars. While the family design languages often aid a brand’s lineup with similar-looking faces, it isn’t a case with the Tata Motor’s lineup. All the models pack in some visual distinctiveness. Recently, CII – Confederation of Indian Industry, has also acknowledged the appealing design of the Tata Nexon. The not-for-profit organization has awarded the Tata Nexon in the “Four Wheeler Vehicle (Passenger Vehicle)” category.
The news was shared by the Pratap Bose, Vice Present, Global Design, Tata Motors via a social media platform with the image caption as “Winning awards is always sweet. Winning hearts is even sweeter! Great way to end the year for the team!” The Nexon received a mid-cycle update, earlier this year in January 2020. As a part of the facelift, it received an updated front end with sleeker headlamps, reworked bonnet, and revised front bumper. For the interior, it received a new dual-tone theme with updated instrument console and an electronic sunroof.
The Nexon is one of the best-selling sub-4m compact-SUV in the Indian market. Also, it was the first Indian car to score a 5-star crash test rating at the Global NCAP’s testbed. It comes equipped with features like ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, roll-over mitigation, seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, brake disc wiping, hill-hold assist, seat belt alarm, high-speed alerts and more.
The Nexon is on sale at a starting price of Rs. 6.99 lakh. It is available with two engine options – 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel. The Revotron petrol motor is capable of putting out a peak power output of 120 PS and torque output of 170 Nm. Talking of the oil burner, it is good enough for developing rated power and torque outputs of 110 PS and 260 Nm, respectively. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT.
