Tata Nexon EV sold 198 units in India last month, which made it the country’s best-selling electric vehicle over the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.

It is predicted that electric cars will become the future and the Indian car market has started taking baby steps towards the same. We have seen various mainstream automakers join the EV market in recent times. These include Tata Motors, Hyundai and MG. Tata sells the Nexon EV, which comes across as a more affordable alternative to the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV. It looks like the price advantage is actually working in favour of the electric Nexon as last month, it outsold the other two models.

In the month of March 2020, Tata managed to sell as many as 198 units of the Nexon EV in the country. In comparison, the MG ZS EV could sell only 116 units and Hyundai Kona Electric managed to clock merely 14 sales. Priced at around Rs 13.99 Lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Nexon EV holds a definite price advantage over the other two electric SUVs out there. Actually, given the exact specifications and pricing of the Nexon EV, the car faces no direct rivalry from the competition.

The MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric are positioned at least a segment above the rather budget-friendly electric Nexon. The electrified version of the Mahindra XUV300 is set to join the party in the coming months. However, the absence of any real competitor at this stage gives the Nexon EV a huge space to carve a niche for itself
