Tata Nexon was the third best-selling SUV in its segment. The automaker has outperformed every sub-4-meter SUV in YoY sales growth
Tata Nexon is one of the best-selling cars in its segment. It rivals with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. The sub-4-meter SUV segment is among the most competitive segments in India, and many carmakers will soon introduce new models in this segment. Early this year, the automaker introduced the new facelift model of the SUV, which looks identical to that of the Nexon EV. Due to the ongoing situation, the Indian automobile industry is going via some tough times, but the sub-4-meter SUVs are able to pull some decent sales numbers. Last month, Hyundai Venue was the top-selling car in its segment.
The Korean automaker managed to retail 8,267 units of the SUV in August 2020. Nevertheless, the number is almost 1000 units less than what the automaker sold in the same month last year. The second spot has been grabbed by Maruti Vitara Brezza by selling 6,903 units last month. The Maruti SUV has also faced a decline of over 200 units as the carmaker managed to sell 7,019 units in August 2019. The third position has been acquired by Tata Nexon. The overall sales of the Tata Nexon are pretty impressive as the carmaker sold 5,179 units of the SUV, and at the same time last year, the automaker retailed 2,275 units.
The Tata SUV has faced a massive growth of over 127 per cent. The growth of Tata Nexon has helped the sub-4-meter SUV segment to register growth for last month. Furthermore, Mahindra sold 2,990 units of XUV300 last month and became the fourth best-selling sub-4-meter SUV in August 2020. This year Mahindra has retailed around 400 units more from 2,532 they sold in August 2019. The fifth position has been grabbed by Ford EcoSport, which registered a sale of 2,757 units. The sales of Ford EcoSport have been down by 125 units, compared to its sales same month last year.
