In December 2018, Tata Nexon made a new benchmark in terms of car safety in India with a full 5-star rating from the Global NCAP crash test. The compact SUV achieved the feat due to to the additional safety features that it received recently

Since the Indian car freaks in recent days increasingly consider safety as a foremost parameter to make a car purchase, the sales figure of Tata Nexon sees a substantial growth on a monthly basis thanks to its safest-car-in-India honour. With 5,095 units sold in the first month of 2019, the Tata Nexon records a month-on-month growth rate of almost 16 per cent against 4,393 units registered in December 2018. In February, India’s most-celebrated home-grown carmaker sold 5,623 Nexon units boasting a surge of approximately 20% when compared to that of December 2018. As a matter of fact, the Global NCAP test results play a vital part in spreading out the Nexon’s reputation amongst the segment of compact SUVs in India.

The Global NCAP crash test's result greatly popularises the Nexon nameplate in the auto space

In September 2017, the Tata Nexon set off the first launch in the right-hand-drive market. A phenomenal response has been reported right from the start, that said, makes the waiting period of the Tata model extend to 2 months for all variants. The first footstep toward the safest car nameplate was set in August 2018 when the Tata Nexon was tested under the Safer Cars For India Campaign and achieved an overall 4-star rating in Global NCAP norms. Keeping the commitment of making the best out of the best ones, Tata continues to conduct a bunch of feature upgrades to the sub-4-metre SUV like seatbelt reminder for both driver and co-driver seat. On the other hand, the structural change which contributes largely to the all-around safety of the Nexon has been made carefully, especially to shoot up the protection for front passenger’s knee area. In eventually, the fully designed, engineered and manufactured-in-India Tata Nexon surpasses its own record to be crowned as the leadership of safety and at the same time putting its name on the global map.

Of course, performance also carries a core mission to win the customers’ hearts. The car has been available with two engine options, specifically a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine good for 110 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel burner tuned for 110 bhp/ 260 Nm torque. Combined with a standard T6300 6-speed manual transmission as well as a brilliant 6-speed AMT version as optional, the 2018 Tata Nexon yields decent numbers in the overall Tata’s sale statistics.
