Tata Safari Base Variant’s Interior Revealed - VIDEO

Formerly introduced as the Gravitas Concept at the Auto Expo 2020, the upcoming SUV was officially named after the famous nameplate of Tata, the Safari. After a long wait, Tata has unveiled the much-anticipated SUV yesterday. Prior to the unveiling event, we have already got the opportunities to see this all-new SUV on road. Recently, a video of the Tata Safari was uploaded by All Rounder Pattathari, a Youtube channel, revealing the new details of the supposedly base variant of Tata Safari.

On this video, the Tata Safari is seen with projector headlights with the split-up setting. Unlike the teaser released by Tata earlier, this model does not get a tri-arrow design with chrome finish. Apparently, this styling element will be missed out on the base variant of the line-up. Another variation of this SUV compared to the revealed model is the size of the wheelset. Instead of flaunting the 17-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels, the base variant gets 16-inch dual-tone steel rims. The larger alloy wheels are expected to be limited to the higher variants only. Other differences that tell the base variant apart is the lack of chrome garnish around the ORVM and rear bumper. However, the low-end Tata Safari still gets LED taillights for the rear end.

Tata Safari base variant does not have some key interior features

That’s for the exterior of the upcoming Tata Safari base variant. Now, we will get into the cabin to find out how much convenience and comfort this entry-level variant can provide. As expected, there are not many features that are available at this range. Steering wheel with mounted controls or cruise button controls is not included. Instead of the automatic climate control, the base variant only offers manual air conditioning with heater. In addition, there are an internally adjustable rearview mirror and a smaller infotainment system. The digital instrument cluster is also absent on the standard version and replaced by an analogue unit.

With regards to the interior materials, the base model skips the premium soft-touch plastic and makes use of hard plastic. The dual-tone theme of the top-spec version makes way for an all-black colour scheme. The model in this video is a manual version with a hand brake that is similar to that on the Tata Harrier. It should be noted that there will be an automatic gearbox on offer as well.

Tata Safari will be exclusively offered with a 2.0-litre Kyrotec turbocharged diesel engine, the same unit used on the Harrier. This engine can churn out a top power of 170 PS and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. After entering the market, Tata Safari will pit itself against the MG Hector and upcoming Mahindra XUV500. Prices of the upcoming SUV is expected to go from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) upwards.
