The updated Tata Tiago and Tata Tiago NRG could receive some subtle cosmetic changes, features updates and will comply with the stringent crash test regulations.

According to a recent report, the comprehensive makeovers for the Tata Tiago and Tiago NRG have been in the process for quite some time now. A few days back, a batch of spy shots about updated Tiago and Tiago NRG surfaced online, citing at the imminent launch of these vehicles.

The front facades of the new Tiago and Tiago NRG will take big inspiration from that of the upcoming Tata Altroz.

Visually, both these two hatches will get a massively refreshed design on the exterior. The front fascia of the models will undergo heavy prominent tweaks in line with the production-spec Tata Altroz that is set to come in India by the year end of 2019. The expected changes at the front should include a set of LED DRLs for high-spec trims, a sportier aggressive-looking upper grille and a redesigned bumper among others. The rear ends of the facelifted models are expected to get a new pair of tail lamps with new graphics treatments. Over the sides, a set of 15-inch alloys as seen in the range-topping Tiago XZ+ might be offered with the higher-spec variants of the new vehicles.

In all likelihood, the facelifted models will get a comprehensively updated safety suite to comply with the new stricter safety and crash test norms.

While the Tata Tiago has already been available with a large 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Tiago NRG is slated to get this fitment too. Changes made inside the cabin of these updated cars may comprise new interior trim colours, upholstery and the side panels.

As we stated earlier, the Tata Tiago and Tata Tiago NRG facelifts will be conformed to the new crash test regulations which are all set to come into effect in July of 2019. From this, the cars are expected to get upgraded safety suite including rear parking sensors, driver’s side airbags, ABS, high-speed alert as standard across their variants.

Under the hoods, the mechanical packages will remain unchanged. The new Tiago and Tiago NRG will carry on drawing the power from the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder gasoline engine that is tuned for the max power of 85 HP. Although Tata is planning to phase out its 1.05-litre oil burner from the production line, it will not happen until the April 2020 deadline once the BSVI takes effect across the nation. Hence the BSIV 1.05-litre diesel engine will continue to power the cars as it does till the date of the BSVI’s kick-in.

Expectedly, the prices of the new Tata Tiago and Tata Tiago NRG facelifts will go up by a margin owing to the updates. Despite that fact, the revised version of Tiago is still believed to undercut Hyundai Santro as well as Maruti WagonR. The latter will rival the likes of Maruti Ignis or the Mahindra KUV100 NXT in India.
