The all-new 2020 Tata Winger (BSVI-compliant model) with updated exterior design has been spied during testing on Indian roads.

Tata Motors had showcased their entire range of vehicles, both current and upcoming, at the 2020 Auto Expo. These included passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles. Among the latter, we saw the new Tata Winger, updated with a BS6-compliant engine as well as a new exterior design (following the same impact 2.0 philosophy as the Harrier). While there was no confirmation about the launch date, we have spy pictures of an undisguised test mule, which suggest that the launch is approaching soon.

The vehicle spied on testing is the base variant, which gets blacked-out bumpers and steel wheels with wheel caps. The model showcased at the Auto Expo was the top-trim variant, which got body-coloured bumpers, a higher roof-line, and alloy wheels. The biggest design highlight, however, is the Harrier-inspired front fascia. The car sports a vertically split headlamps design, with high-mounted LED DRLs and low-mounted headlights. The top portion of the grille gets a chrome strip running horizontally from one end to the other. Further below, you also get fog lamps integrated into the front bumper.

The updated Tata Winger will be powered by a 2.0-litre, inline-4, turbocharged diesel engine, capable of generating 89 PS and 190 Nm. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The Winger will be available in multiple seating configurations (and consequently different wheelbase lengths), ranging from 10-seater to 19-seater options. Compared to the previous Tata Winger, which was available as 7- to 15-seater, the new model is much larger. Even the design is a big evolution, from the simplistic look of the previous model to the sharp and aggressive look of the new model.

The official launch of the 2020 Tata Winger is expected to happen in the coming months. The vehicle has already been listed on Tata Motor’s official website, although there is no mention of the price. We expect it to be priced from Rs. 8 lakh onwards, which is decent for a vehicle of this size. Its primary competitor in the Indian market will be the Force Traveller.
