Mahindra XUV300 has started garnering large sales numbers within just over two months of its launch. The SUV has made it to the list of top three hottest-selling models in the niche segment in the country.

Though the customers’ sentiment on new cars is falling into a decline due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the SUVs segment is still selling like hot cakes with a total decent sales number to everyone’s surprise. Last month, various carmakers have launched their brand new cars in a bid to get a slice of the pie such as Mahindra & Mahindra with its brand new XUV300 compact SUV.

The recently-launched Mahindra XUV300 has been well-received by the Indian customers right from its launch.

In fact, Mahindra’s great attempt seems to be paid off.  The SUV has acquired quite a runaway success in the country after just over 60 days of its market entry. It totally overtook two of its biggest competitors- the Honda WR-V and Ford Ecosport when receiving up to 10,000 bookings order within a short period after launch. Moreover, the Mahindra XUV300 even defeated India’s safest car Tata Nexon which has proved to be a tough player in the game in over the last few months to become the third biggest-selling SUV in the segment with as many as 4,200 units sold this April. As of now, the new XUV300 is only standing behind the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Vitara Brezza which are two fastest runners in the list with 10,487 and 11,785 takers, respectively.

No Models Sales Number
 1  Maruti Vitara Brezza  11,785
 2  Hyundai Creta  10,487
 3  Mahindra XUV300  4,200
 4  Tata Nexon  3,976
 5  Mahindra Scorpio  3,930
 6  Ford Ecosport  3,191
 7  Maruti S-Cross  2,163
 8  Tata Harrier  2,075
 9  Honda WR-V  1,604
 10  Mahindra XUV500  1,508

The Tata Nexon ended up in the fourth spot in the sales chart with 3,976 units registered during the month of April that boasts around 16 per cent sales drop as compared to that of the previous month. In the meanwhile, the long-in-the-tooth Mahindra Scorpio took the fifth position in the April sales chart with 3,930 units recorded in the month. The long-serving SUV is about to witness a generation change in 2020 that will give it a heavily-updated underpinning. That said, the next-gen Scorpio will be internally called Z101 and expected to be conceptualised by Mahindra North American Technical Centre then developed and engineered in the company’s Research Valley in Chennai.

It comes as a bit of a surprise that Ford India’s chart-topping nameplate, Ford Ecosport retailed only 3,191 units on April 2019 and managed to end up sixth in the chart, followed by the Maruti S-Cross and the Tata Harrier with 2,163 and 2,075 units, respectively. It’s worth noting that the Tata Harrier has joined in the competition for around three months only. The Mahindra XUV500 and Honda WR-V are at the bottom of the top ten with merely 1,508 and 1,604 takers in the month of April, respectively.

With the introduction of Hyundai’s first-connected Venue SUV set to happen in the next several weeks, it’s for sure fascinating to see how the top ten changes in coming time.
